I want everyone to win. I hope, nudge, urge, and encourage people to pursue paths that allow the organization to reward them. The challenge is always the same; people want to win because of their efforts and because of or in spite of what actually resulted from their work. Normal corporations do not function in that way. Unless you produce you will not win. Even if you produce you may not win. However, hard work is always important!
I wish everyone’s pursuit of God would be successful. I hope that people in their pursuit find the god they seek. The quest is not easy and the results are often baffling! Why is it that when we pursue god that, if god is as almighty as we assume, the god we find is nothing like we expect? God loves all of us, right?
Implicit in the paragraph above is the same assumption that people have working for corporations. If I work hard, then rewards will come; it does not matter if I work on the right projects, deliver results, or work efficiently. If I seek god, then I will find nirvana and peace; it does not matter what God I seek, how I pursue God, what I do in the process, or what actions I take when I am not on my quest. Corporations and gods should understand my effort, or at least intent, and reward me regardless of process or results!
Our traditional assumptions are tragically flawed! Corporations are often cruel (no rewards without strong results). We will find the god we seek, however we may not realize who we are looking for! We find gods who are selfish, consistently failing, and judgmental.
If we turn away from the gods of self and look to the God of heaven, Jesus, and the Bible we will find something different. This “God isn’t pleased at being ignored.” (Romans 8.7) Without our yes, He cannot give each of us the awesome gift of love and mercy. God’s gifts to you and me comes from His efforts, not ours!
