In an age of skeptics, I have come to appreciate miracles. With the passing of time, experience reminds me that impossible is often just that, impossible! One can wish and never receive it. One can reach repeatedly, only to find that it is consistently just beyond one’s touch. One can work diligently and fervently for the what one does not have.
A friend is on the verge of experiencing the birth of his first child. After missteps and painful outcomes, he stands at the beginning of an amazing chapter with his wife. They are filled with excitement and a wide range of emotions. They are also filled with a sense of thankfulness; an example of a couple with raw emotions lingering from the chance that they would never be where they are.
I continue to watch with prayerful support. From my perspective, Mother Divinity “gives childless couples a family, gives them joy as the parents of children. Hallelujah!” (Psalm 113.9) Sitting on the edge of a new beginning causes me to reflect on the joys and memories from child led steps and journeys.
We have no idea of what is in front of us, ever! Even if I was to share, I would struggle to use words and metaphors that have meaning for either of them. Friends tried, in the day, to give me hints and clues. In hindsight, I can see them. At the time, I was clueless. Not knowing, is ok. It is a journey not a test we need to pass in advance.
Goodness is always with us, especially in the darkness. It is hard to imagine how much help is available. It will be there when we need it. If one cannot see it, stay on the quest. Be open to unexpected and undeserved sources of hope, strength, and courage.
Get ready for the greatest ride of your life! For me, children have been a part of my greatest trials and highest highs! I have come to see Divinity more clearly because of their insights and teaching.
Miracles are all around us.
