“You are famous, God, for welcoming God-seekers, for decking us out in delight.” Psalm 5.11
Yesterday I saw a bit of heaven. No the scene was not pretty, and there were lots of tears and pain. What I saw was the most amazing mix of people come together and celebrating God. Actually, it was the second day in a row now that I think of it!
Saturday I saw an old English lady with too much dressing flanked by a young English girl with a button nose and a young Filipino girl with stunning features leading worship for a congregation representing the UN. The songs began as funeral songs often do – slow and without much form to remember. Before it was over a sax had joined in, then a full acoustic set of drums and they were trying to put life into it.
Sunday an equally diverse group of people partied together as a church. We celebrated God, His love, and His healing grace!
My experience with healing is that someone is always in charge. Usually a doctor, maybe a nurse, and, if the healing is in the spiritual realm, then a minister for sure!
Not here! For once, the power behind all healing is in charge, God! The church body recognized several individuals for the experience in giving God healing prayers. The speakers invited individuals to the front, boy were they surprised. He then asked if they had any specific words from the Lord about specific health problems for prayer. No promises, just prayer, grace, and hope.
First words, then hands of people who felt a desire for God healing touch, and I watched love and grace flow between people of all types, classes, and ages.
Heaven will be like that. People caring about people. People celebrating the source of all good things. People partying together, lifting each other up to God as gifts for release. Finally, right on the mark, the family celebrated communion together. Kids with friends, best friends together, old and young.
I missed you today. You are part of God family.
