“God loves all who hate evil, and those who love him he keeps safe, snatches them from the grip of the wicked.” Psalm 97.10
Staying on a team in modern athletics is work. Staying on today’s team includes the following: perform, deliver results, play the role set out for you, and skip any chance at being caught doing drugs. It is a big help if you try not to be demanding when your contract is up for renewal. In addition, it is helpful if you get along with your teammates. If you do all the above and the manager does not get along with you, do not worry. We will fire the manager!
Sports are coming back into season. The World Athletics Meet is almost finished. Football season is beginning on both sides of the pond. Summer cricket is in full steam (except the English who set a new standard for failure). Baseball races are now on serious notes. Formula 1 racing is at its height. The team soap operas are amazing. It is as if grown-ups cannot get along in the sandbox! I keep waiting for the mother of all sports to show up and take each situation by the scruff of the neck to sort it out!
The good news is all this confusion is that God makes membership on his team very simple. I can handle this, I know where I stand and it is easy for everyone involved to decide if this is the right combination. Hate evil? If your answer is “yes” then you are on the team. If “no”, you are not. Being on God’s team is not based on the uniform (kit here in England), or the money in your contract. If you hate evil, you love God. If you love God, you are on the team!
I did forgot to one thing. If you are on the team there are benefits! Peace and acceptance are big ones. Another special feature is that you have an unlimited, unconditional life insurance policy that is absolutely out of this world! Joining?
