I have been way behind on a personal deliverable. My excuse is writer’s block. For whatever reasons, I have looked the skeleton framework of a website and have been unable to put my thoughts on paper. I believe in the concept. I am confident that it fills an untended void in the market.
Yesterday, I sat down again to see if I could get through the invisible barrier. As I looked at the various sections in detail, I realized that I had already written most of the content for earlier deliverables. My challenge was not in writing something new. My task was to edit what I already had. The permission to refine one’s words can release one to something better. The image that comes to mind is one that David painted a long time ago; “God’s words are pure words, pure silver words refined seven times in the fires of his word-kiln, pure on earth as well as in heaven.” (Psalm 12.6)
My words are sitting in a document with the development team. I know there will be multiple edits. I also know it is a starting point filled with hope and possibilities. We have something to work with. We have something to react to. With an open mind, we can look in the mirror and make it better. As I take a look back, I try to understand my writer’s block.
Lessons include the following.
You and I are invited to participate in living. God gives us the invitation knowing we are flawed. Divinity understands mistakes will be made. In this knowledge, God offers us the chance to make a difference.
The actions we take today come from where we are, the moment at hand. Living is never about yesterday, even though it is important to learn from our past. Living is not about tomorrow, that time will come. It is all about where we are with what we have.
One always knows more, has more, and can do more than one realizes. Our cups are filled with hope, support, and opportunities.
Ready, set, action.
