Everyone carries seeds of doubt. Each will take time to pause in the quiet moments of the day or night, whether we want to or not. We end up exploring the actions and decisions of the day and asking ourselves the tough questions. What could have been different? What possibly went wrong? Would I do it again? Did I miss something?
Too often, we go through this process in silence and often without even a conscious thought. The emotion we seek is the same one you and I carried home from school with our first drawing or work of art. When was the last time you explored your doubts? I find it tough to answer the question while sounding intelligent.
We want and need confirmation from our Father God. I personally do not believe this is a weakness or something from which we should ever shy away. Our emotional need reflects our created design. The only question is how we are going to fill the gap.
As Paul reflected God's voice, he said of a friend, “I heartily endorse both her and her work.” (Romans 16.2)
As God reflected of Jesus' walk, he said publicly, “You are my Son, chosen and marked by my love, pride of my life.” (John 3.22)
Yesterday, I listened to a pastor confirm the spiritual content of a contemporary worship experience. I can testify to the impact of your spiritual journey. I can confirm the steps you take continue to make a powerful difference in the lives of those around you as well as across the pond.
I find that God accepts both of us with equal force. He intimately knows our failures and weaknesses. He fully understands that we will make terrible decisions in the future, and will make strong statements of distrust. God knows this and more, yet his offer of restored relationship with unconditional acceptance just the way we are, unlimited love for us as is, and an unmerited statement of how priceless we are stands!
God says we are priceless. Sense His confirmation, it is always there.
