Knowing someone listens to you affects everything about your relationship. When the relationship is important, many things will change if you know in your heart that they listen. Knowing will change your confidence. Knowing will change the words you share. Knowing will change who you are.
How do you know God listens?
Yesterday I spent most of my day looking at potential homes. House after house, mile after mile. In my conversation with my agent, I realized that she did not remember any of our previous talks. It also became clear that my talks with others members of her firm did not filter around to her. Again, we started at the beginning. By the day’s end, I knew she was listening again.

I find myself frustrated when I try to share and I do not believe the listener listens. I generally start at the beginning and rephrase, or describe in a fresh way, the event or thought. This process rarely works because the core problem is not with the words and phrases I am using.

Everyone fails in the listening process at one time or another. We are talking with someone and we see something that distracts our mind. We are dealing with an issue that overwhelms us. Most days we do not mean to ignore the person talking to us, it just happens.

When Cherry really listens to me, our conversation is different. I see the difference in her eyes. I hear the difference in her voice. I feel the difference in the chemistry between us. There is a confidence shared that I find with no other person.

By doing what David did in his conversation with God. By looking to see yourself as God sees you. By listening to hear God’s voice. By reflecting on the change within after He has been there.
God listens to every word. God loves you.
