I am wrestling with several situations where the need to take credit is seemingly more important than delivering the dream. I am reminded of a young child jumping in a pool while calling out loudly for everyone’s attention, especially the parents. The irony is that the latter is a solo effort while work settings involve more than is obvious, even when it is assigned.
As I close my eyes in the light emerging in the predawn, I see replays of impossible tasks playing out to a successful end. In reliving the scenes, I see a harmony emerging as solo efforts fold into the combined of many. There can be no doubt in the role individual efforts played. At the same time, without the harmony of many contributors, the results would have remained in our imaginations. The glory of one blended with the efforts of many led to the reality of the impossible.
The lessons Life has shared with me are ones I will share with others to consume.
Great solos build and amplify the harmony shared with others. Life is never a solo experience. While our accountability is all our own, it is always realized in the company of others. Being true to our best is told through our actions in the lives of those we touch. The formula I always find myself coming back to starts with me and ends with community.
Individual giving care and kindness within a community leads all to shared awe and wonder.
Winning is best tasted with others. Great solos have a support team. Team achievements take the contributions of everyone involved, visible as well as those behind the scenes. Nothing is ever truly solo, especially success!
As this plays out, it is good to remember the link between care, kindness, love, and Divinity. The source of good is Divine love manifesting itself through her children’s acts of care and kindness. Consequently, “God’s the one who rebuilds Jerusalem, who regathers Israel’s scattered exiles.” (Psalm 147.2). Solos seen and experienced through communities in harmony. Divinity’s personalized invitation is waiting for all.
