It is easy to feel alone. Nobody can see what you see. There are no individuals in a position to do what you can do. In the midst of battle, surrounded by friends and foes, it is easy to forget for one to forget that they are part of a much larger community. In our forgetting, we, you and I, will always be part of God's family. We may wander yet we are always within God's reach. We may fail yet there is always potential for God's recreation. We may think we are alone while the members of God's are all around us. God's team has depth.
A year ago, the new corporate team could still be measured with two hands. We were young, ambitious, and ready to leap tall buildings. The challenge had begun! We were ready to take on the world. Even as we began an incredible journey, tragedy and chaos struck. In the months between then and now, every member of that team and the ones that joined later have experienced the touch of Evil. It is a story that can come across as a Greek tragedy but the hardship and struggle is not at the heart of the challenge. We were a group of individuals discovering who we were and are as a team. We initially spread out to take on all challengers. In the midst of today's battles and challenges it is easy to forget that we have others on our side.
In a party celebrating the Christmas season, I found myself in awe of the team. There are individuals making deep sacrifices so we can be ready. There are many willing to do what is right even as they fight their battles alone. There is a lot of people on this team.
There are “streams of camel caravans as far as the eye can see, young camels of nomads in Midian and Ephah, pouring in from the south from Sheba, loaded with gold and frankincense, preaching the praises of God.” (Isaiah 60.6)
The team is bigger than you can see.
