I started a journey 18 months ago. At the center of my quest was a simple belief. If I could create an opportunity for others to help others, everything in the future would have the potential to be better than it is. Looking back, I see how the center of my intent has not changed. The vehicle and methods have evolved with dialogue, learning, and the contributions of others. The heart remains focused on the quest.
I know a decision point is coming. The quest for a big launch will reach an inflection point where launch happens. If it does not, then the quest and premises which anchored everything need to be examined with a fresh perspective.
My appreciation for the designs supporting the vision have grown immensely. They are the result of many contributors, each in her or his own way making the vision bigger, sharper, and more viable than my original. With the collective work in place, I can see the opportunity emerging in several different ways.
It is important to remind myself that the work is just beginning! Designs are never enough. Good intentions can guide and inspire, but more is required. If I look at other great visions, I am reminded of an old prophet’s observation; “Jerusalem, well-built city, built as a place for worship!” (Psalm 122.3). It took more than designs and a vision for him to make this statement. It took years, decades and centuries of hard work, sacrifices, and validation through experience. Only then could the statement be made.
With the journey and vision in play, there are three observations.
Declared success will be possible when one uses their experience to share the impact.
Buildings are more than their designs. They represent people, collaboration, and hard work.
Designs are the critical foundation; each expresses the why we look to understand.
Today, as in the days before, I revisit the quest and the design which shapes it. I reaffirm my belief and commitment to seeing it realized. There is unlimited potential. So much is at stake. To all, carpe diem!
