Destinations are scary things. Strive hard and long enough and you will get there! The question is, will you like it?
The warning is that many people do not want you to find what you seek. Their reasons vary. Fear that you will succeed in finding the thing for which they continue to search. Frustration that you would win and therefore they would lose. A competitive streak that cannot let anyone have more than he or she is already carry on their person. Bubbling anger that someone will actually find peace and comfort. Most of the time the actions that work to stop and prevent occur long before anyone understands why.
The difficulty is worth any cost. God is awesome. “That's right – if you make Insight your priority, and won't take no for an answer, searching for it like a prospector panning for gold, like an adventurer on a treasure hunt, believe me, before you know it Fear-of-God will be yours; you'll have come upon the Knowledge of God.” (Proverbs 2.3,4,5) The results are there for you to experience; Peace, heaven on earth today, joy, compassion towards others, and the knowledge that you are truly accepted and one with the Divine.
Life continues to take on puzzling twists. A good friend is finding that forces are turning him towards a job that he really does not want. However, he can do little or nothing about the developments going on all around him. Another struggles to know that he is accepted and wanted. The struggle drives and colors his actions, creating a longing that only God can satisfy.
I travel with them wondering about my own road. Am I going where God would have me go? Do I sense His directions?
Tomorrow is a long way off, for you and I. It is hard to see into the future, but we do have today. Today, I can choose to pursue God without reservation. Today, I can take small steps in faith. Today, I can know and experience mercy, compassion, and acceptance – all destinations with God.
