“How well God must like you – you don’t hang out at Sin Saloon, you don’t slink along Dead-End Road, you don’t go to Smart-Mouth College.” Psalm 1.1
As the hours and minutes pass, approaching the magic hour, the two paths which people follow become increasingly visible. One path is full of visible energy and often lots of movement. The other more sedate, reflective, and frequently meditative. Paths intertwined and always relate.
I have a friend…
Months ago the weight of the world rested on his arms and heart, day by day with little evidence of grace. Then, as if in a romantic novel, life began to change. From my perspective the change came as his realization of his God thirst became part of his day to day God conversation. As the challenge of living life with God became a priority a wonderful process began.
Is there a link? Does God only give when we turn towards Him? If history is a guide, Biblical David’s good and bad sides are interesting examples, the answer is a resounding no! God blesses the rich and the poor. God reaches out to each individual because there is no one who falls outside of His circle of love.
So why the change and how does any of this relate to today?
My friend’s life took a change because of two critical events.
1. The willingness of one individual to accept grace.
2. The willingness of other individuals to be God’s arms, voice, and feet in recognizing the value of one individual. We saw his worth, his desire and attitude. We saw and we acted.
Are these random events? Does any of this apply in general? No, yes.
My life’s worth has importance because God says it is important. My mission is to be God on earth. This mission is not to realize the god within; there is nothing to find. This mission is to let God become so much a part of us that every act, decision, and choice is His action, His decision and choice.
Directions are always a choice.
