I love dreaming in color. Everything is extremely intense. The colors are crisp, vivid, and perfectly matched. Even on the occasions where things are in a fog, the edges of sight come in focused and complete. The people who participate in these experiences always make their minds up quickly; hesitation is an unrecognized foreign word. Everything seems to happen with purpose and stride. Of course, the endings always seem abrupt and unfinished!
When I remember and compare my color dreams to black and white, as well as reality, there are some stark differences. The clear decisions of sleep become muddled and confusing. What was firm and forward looking becomes a hesitation and loop for questioning. I daily consume values and priorities as part of the mess called desires. The lingering question is what do I really want!
You and I sit on the beginning of something new each morning. We have history and memories, yet we are free to choose what will happen this day. The legacies of the past are with us, good and bad, yet we carry a freedom to make everything new. The wonder of it all comes when we consciously choose what we will go for. Will we quench the thirst for mercy and love? Will we exercise our ability to be God's hands and voice? Will we strive with a will not to yield?
Today I dream of seeing God in action. I carry a vision of reaching out to people who are hurting and in need. I see life that is waiting to be lived! The only question is what I need to get for the occasion.
A decision is required. A commitment must be there. A willingness to risk everything. However, I would tell you that if you follow this path, “above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom!” (Proverbs 4.7) Wisdom is the one requirement for really living.
Dreams usually vanish with the dawn. We do not need to let this happen. We are God's hands, feet, ears, eyes, and presence. What happens next is our choice.
