Have you ever desperately, passionately, willingly to give up anything for, believed in something? Did everything else faded into irrelevance? Were you so engaged in your belief that you lost sight of everything else? I have and it is definitely an unusual, said another way – it is not what you normally find, state of mind. I should warn you; I believe God engages in our lives this way. In fairness to your time and state of mind; I do not believe this subject ends there. I find God calling each of us to this way of engaging with live. In fairness the “belief” and “passion” is centered on compassion, mercy, and unconditional acceptance.
When I look at my life, I’m lazy. I enjoy life’s comforts while turning a blind eye to the wicked problems confronting people within my reach. I’m not alone. Most believe there needs to be a balance in everything we do. We should be careful and measured in our response. There are greater issues at stake.
I wonder who’s kidding who. What issue is greater than the cause of community? Is there something that takes priority over compassion? Does love sit at the back of the bus?
There is a model which some find difficult. In yesteryear, “the people paid no mind to him who hit them, didn't seek God-of-the-Angel-Armies. So God hacked off Israel's head and tail, palm branch and reed, both on the same day. The big-head elders were the head, the lying prophets were the tail. Those who were supposed to lead this people led them down blind alleys, and those who followed the leaders ended up lost and confused. That's why the Master lost interest in the young men, had no feeling for their orphans and widows. All of them were godless and evil, talking filth and folly. And even after that, he was still angry, his fist still raised, ready to hit them again.” (Isaiah 9.13-17) He needed to get there attention.
Well he has got mine. In this moment rests choice, action, and real living.
