Facts are facts; except for the one we cannot face and want to ignore. We often know what will happen, but we continue to go down the path of destruction anyway. We care about others, yet we turn and strike out at those who are dearest to us. Facts do not seem to make a difference in the paths we choose.
We know crossing the street against the light, or where there is no walk at all, is both against the law and dangerous. Yet, we take the risk on any given day. We understand that there is a strong link between getting enough rest and healthy living. Yet, my sleeping habits reflect someone willing to risk everything. We talk about the things that we value. We speak of trust, loyalty, kindness, and honesty. Then we cut corners, play one person against the other, lie discretely, and fudge the truth.
Life can be very harsh. “It” does not seem to care that we have our reasons, excuses, and explanations. Facts are following a cause and effect formula. We talk about the problems, yet often the most difficult things in my life are of my own making. The proverb is an accurate summary of the facts in my life. “Wise living gets rewarded with honor; stupid living gets the booby prize.” (Proverbs 3.35)
What can we do to change the facts?
There is nothing we can do to change the facts. Denial is never an answer. Ignorance is foolish. Spin is pointless. The only answer lies in completely facing the facts with a clean sheet of paper. See everything! Note each failure and weakness. Take off your blinders.
Do not stop with your facts. Keep the expansion going until you have the complete story on God! Discover with fear that He knows every fact about you past, present, and future. Revel in the fact that He offers you and I unconditional acceptance with mercy and restoration! Focus on what He is willing to do with and for us.
The complete picture is awesome! Look, study, and live.
