I continue to reflect on an unusual start to a recent conversation. On paper it was all about business. Traditionally a conversation will center on proposals, ideas, and past milestones and processes. As prepared as I was, this one was different.
I realize as I look back that the lesson that emerged from our conversation is a wakeup call to remind and reshape the dialogue I have with others. In this unique moment, I was asked to talk about the Daily Whispers that I share with you. While I love to talk about the way Life struggles to teach me, often telling how Life needs to repeat the same lesson in different way always hoping that I will get it, I found myself momentarily at a loss for words. This is not where we usually start.
As I paused in my mind and responded to the second point raised, Life reminded me of the journey. It has been a winding road. In the midst of the chaos, highs, lows, darkness, and wonderful experiences of beauty and grace, there is a recurring realization that overwhelms all other lessons; Divinity loves each unconditionally. As challenging, unfair, and painful as life can be, Divinity offers to each an open and unconditional offer of acceptance and compassion. We do not earn this, it simply is. We may struggle to know this, yet our bodies and hearts feel and respond to truth. In the presence of Divinity we have an opportunity to be more than we are without. It is a gift we often miss. A writer observed this truth a long time ago, and it still remains as true now as it was then. “Let all far-flung people become happy and shout their happiness because You [Divinity] judge them fair and square, you tend the far-flung peoples.” (Psalm 67.4)
I find myself called to give others what I was given, a fair opportunity to share my story, the whole story, and to be a part of a bigger one. My advice as our stories continue to unfold; Carpe diem!
