Sometimes it is hard to know things have changed. It isn’t unique to your life or mine. Wars go on with little notice to the deterioration. People sacrifice with amazing, incredible, and wonderful intent; unaware that those closest to them are paying the true cost. Artists, musicians, and writers lose their focus, only to rediscover the thirst that shaped their original intent and purpose. Even leadership across all types of disciplines finds itself lost among the chaos of the moment. When does it become clear that one needs a course correction?
The simple answer is lies in the fact that awareness and change can occur in and at any given moment. There is no predictability to the occurrence. We can create the setting to be aware of change. We can open ourselves up to the knowledge of change. We can even go looking for early indicators. The key in each action is our willingness to see, hear, and listen with our hearts and minds. What happens next can be a band-aid (fix) or a cure.
In an old story, a king was sick. “Isaiah had said, ‘Prepare a poultice of figs and put it on the boil so he may recover.’
Hezekiah [king] had said, ‘What is my cue that it's all right to enter again the Sanctuary of God?’” (Isaiah 38.21, 22)
The king had the right priority. It is too bad that he was listening with his heart and mind to the answers. The question that remains is your response and mine. Are we open to seeing, listening, and hearing the truth? Are we willing to see our souls for who and what we really are? Can we see the truth around us? Will we keep going until we see ourselves as Divinity sees us?
What happens next is wide open. We can response to the world around us. We can grow and be more than we were yesterday. We can make a difference! We can go for the cure, not just a temporary fix of the symptoms. Everything is possible, now.
