Force

When two or more get together with a shared passion for life, watch, listen, and enjoy the ride!  It is absolutely magical.  A pianist and a vocalist – playing off each other give birth to something far greater than either could have imagined individually.  Expand the group and the potential magic only increases!  Move beyond music and the theme continues.  An artist is more than just an individual.  He or she lives within a network of friends, a community which nurtures the art from inception through the full life cycle.  Collaboration, even something as simple as honest feedback, is crucial to the process.  Even in business the principle holds true; teams have greater potential than any sum of their parts.  Teams can achieve greater heights, imagine more creatively, and even tackle wicked problems because of the force which comes from being a true community.
 
The irony is that power of community and sharing a mission with others is often the first thing we lose sight of.  I find myself forgetting as often as I remember.  The reminder comes when I experience the power of harmony.  It’s as if I rediscover what my soul already knows to be true truth. 
 
A writer noted what happened when a community reformed.  “Blood brothers united, they'll pounce on the Philistines in the west, join forces to plunder the people in the east.  They'll attack Edom and Moab.  The Ammonites will fall into line.” (Isaiah 11.14) 
 
This force doesn’t need to be left in our imagination and stories of old.  It can be realized in your life and mine as frequently as we choose.  As we share our passions, values, and priorities with others we extend the invitation to be involved.  It is equally true of our experiences with them – the invitations are there.  The question then and now is simply this; are we willing to be part of something greater than our self?
 
Each new dawn gives birth to opportunities.  The communities we choose to be a part of gives birth to opportunities.  Our values and priorities give birth to opportunities.
