Foundation Facts

There is one advantage which tags along with age.  With time, one carries the evidence of life.  This evidence bears witness of different facts and principles.  Included in this mix are relationship paradigms, core values, and examples of the “unexplained” at work.  Often the latter is attributed with just reasoning to Divinity.  Yet the advantage isn’t always utilized, and at times isn’t even recognized.  It is always here. 
 
My life in the present provides ample time to reflect, examine, and consider.  I don’t think I have leveraged my experience as fully and completely as I will in the future, but one fact is clear.  I see God at work, in your life and mine.  There are examples to be found in the big and small things of life.  Divinity is intimately engaged in the life in the present.  Whatever gender you care to ascribe to Divinity, the evidence points to Her unending depths of compassion and His awe inspiring patience and strength. 
 
Far too often I find myself rediscovering the evidence as if it is a “new” thing.  God wasn’t there yesterday, or was She?  God wasn’t engaged in the messy negotiation, or was He?
 
I’m not the first one to forget.  In a story of yesterday’s history the question and irony was clear.  “Do you get it? The vineyard of God-of-the-Angel-Armies is the country of Israel.  All the men and women of Judah are the garden he was so proud of.  He looked for a crop of justice and saw them murdering each other.  He looked for a harvest of righteousness and heard only the moans of victims.” (Isaiah 5.7) 
 
Is this the story of your life and mine today?  We hold the freedom of choice; carry the evidence of Divinity’s gift; live in a moment of unbounded opportunity.  Everything is possible and we have the foundation needed beneath us.  Sure, we could do more, but we can do much with what we have.  The unknown, uncertainty, and unwritten present changes with our choice.  Today is open – wide, clear, and present.  Divinity’s the foundation.
