The sidewalk would have been dark at night except for the light sources. The playground equipment was unusually wrapped in neon, and the additional coloured lights on the barriers augmented the traditional lampposts. One walked with brushstrokes of colours and natural light playing out on my body’s shadows. I heard a hope-filled call to join in the ever-changing dance of light.
A short light stood out in contrast. The shape and colour were unique. In the still, I slowed down and found myself sitting beside the light. As much as it was part of the light family, I could feel a difference.
As I listened to the whispers in the lamp’s silence, I reflected on the many gold threads in our stories that lead and point to Divinity. Over the years, I have discovered and experienced wisdom pearls in many different faiths. My understanding has grown, my priorities have shifted, and my compassion has increased. I think my view of Divinity has simplified within life’s chaos and complexity. As I focus on the next step, I am holding these reminders.
There is more to my journey than just myself. There is a larger story. It is filled with opportunities to care, doorways to kindness, and windows to a better future. I need more than I have if I want to make a difference. The journey begins with my decision and willingness to act. As I look to Divinity for help, I recognise the role played by acceptance, forgiveness, and restoration. I can see, for me, “This makes Jesus the guarantee of a far better way between us and God – one that really works! A new covenant.” (Hebrews 7.22)
Collaboration accelerates my learning and growth. I am filled with courage when I experience a shared willingness to take on life’s challenges. I am energised as I understand that I am an accepted community member. In the embrace, I know I am part of something bigger than myself. It is my opportunity to grow and reach beyond my imagination.
Today is my step towards a better future.
