Image & Worth

As I walk the streets, small village and large city, I see an extraordinary range of struts.  It is as if people define themselves by the walk, conveying their attitude of self worth held closely within a secret place.  It is easy to see the humor in it all until you realize the scene includes your own walk and strut!  We are all playing the game of defining ourselves by our externals, working consciously and not to build, maintain, and at times increase our worth.
 
What a joke!  The fact I wear this or that cannot possibly define my worth.  I know this with my head, yet I find myself falling into the heart trap more often than not.  The fact that what we do, how we fail or succeed in the world’s eyes, is never an accurate measure of one’s value, is often lost in the bright lights of the day.  As a result, we are often civilized versions of clowns – putting on an act that even we don’t really believe.
 
The world has been caught in a vicious circle of image control for centuries.  Pilate marked Jesus’ cross with a sign.  It would be interested to speculate on Pilate’s intent but others had their own issues.  “The Jewish high priests objected.  ‘Don't write,’ they said to Pilate,“‘The King of the Jews.”  Make it, “This man said, ‘I am the King of the Jews.’””
 
Pilate said, ‘What I've written, I've written.’” (John 19.21, 22) 
 
Let me be clear.  You are priceless, so am I.  In fact, every human being, regardless of behavior, achievement, or power carries an intrinsic value which is incalculably high.  In simple terms, image has nothing to do with it!
 
Imagine walking with the knowledge we are royalty.  Consider walking with the knowledge you have every gift of value at your disposal.  Contemplate walking with the certainty of Divinity living within.  This is all part of things which define who and what we are.  Divinity is proud to call each friend and child.
