The current group of founders I am working with are unique. It is the first collective group in a long time with a consistent view of a solution for many which started with a personal problem. For many founders, there is an ability to see the problem in or for others which leads to a desire to solve it. With this group, it is taking a personal solution and turning into a solution for the many. Their slight variation on the foundation is, from my view, a reason to be especially hopeful.
On any given day, I find myself fixated on the issues within my head and heart. With reflection, I know that many of these are of my own creation. Additionally, what remains is often a universal challenge! The candid admission is that it is easy to think that I have it worse than the next and that I am the victim. If only, and I willingly insert a name or two, then things would be wonderful. Reality reminds me of the many ways in which I am my greatest enemy.
I find myself inspired by those who wrestled with their problems, found something that worked and are now trying to bring the solution to others. The themes they share among each other include the following.
Each view her or himself as part of a community. Their orientation was f the many, not of the one. When something happened and a solution was found, in their celebration was the calling and passion to bring this to others.
For a group of start-ups, I am continuously surprised by how little conversation there are of individual financial success. There is no doubt that they want to be profitable, however this is secondary to bringing their solutions to a target community.
A few have already experienced the joy of customer adoption. Each sale and problem solved serves to remind everyone of the possible.
I am inspired by the new experience echoing the psalmist’s action long forgotten; “O God, remember David, remember all his troubles!” (Psalm 132.1)
