I rarely debate on Facebook. I have no view on individuals actively debating. For me, it is not something I enjoy participating in. While I love discussions one on one, there is so much that is missing in the communication from all parties when we are reduced to just words. Recently, a friend’s response to an article on Christmas triggered an need for me to share an observation.
In the process I realized that while I lived my life in the balance between left and right brain thinking, analytical and emotional frameworks, my way of looking at the process is purely analytical! It is as if I am trapped in the intellect approach to things without consideration of the emotional. In this revelation let me suggest the following.
We are at our center, emotional beings. Our hearts ultimately decide how we engage in the business of living. Our intellect (minds) inform, the physical guides and at times limits. In all circumstances it is our hearts that decide.
We all inspire to make a difference. The difference we strive to make in our lives varies from one to another – from personal recognition to a better society, from satisfying our wants and needs to helping those in our lives – we want to make an impact.
We embrace ideas, values, and principles (faith systems included) to inform our hearts. It is easy to get this part backwards! I have for years. My responsibility is to live, really fully and completely live the life I have. To do this, I need to inform my intellect and more importantly my heart! All learning is ultimately driven by a deep need, longing, insatiable thirst to fill my heart.
There is a offered in different forms of faith. A Psalmist worded it this way; “‘If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,’ says God, ‘I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me.’” (Psalm 91.14) In any way that works for you, let your heart experience to know.
