The supermarket had tables of fresh fruits and vegetables. Looking at them, I imagined all the ways I could use them. In contrast to my usual, how do I improve on the starting point? I flipped through the pages in my mind to see how I could use each as part of a potential recipe. There were more options than I thought were possible, and this was just the starting point. I knew if I opened myself up to the ideas of others, there would be endless alternatives. From sweet to savoury, fresh to baked, with this foundation, everything was possible.
Life offers an opportunity to build and experience. I can take the sunset’s beauty and invite others to experience it with me. I can walk with another, sharing the journey, knowing we can support each other along the way. In my embrace of what Divinity has done, I find myself out in the open, free and able to dance, celebrate, and play. “I’ve also concluded that whatever God does, that’s the way it’s going to be, always. No addition, no subtraction. God’s done it and that’s it. That’s so we’ll quit asking questions and simply worship in holy fear.” (Ecclesiastes 3.14)
Life offers an opportunity to be part of something bigger than oneself. I am invited into relationships, starting with Divinity, and extending far beyond anything I can imagine. In discovering that I am part of a family and community, I see life through these lenses. The awareness changes my view of myself, the calling to live purposefully. Time has helped me appreciate the value of my freedom as I put it to use. I can be Divinity’s voice. I can bring Divinity’s presence to life. Divinity leaves an unlocked door to what I can become and be.
Life’s haze and complexity are, at their core, quite simple. I have, within me, a deep well of love. It is gifted to me by Divinity. I can use it for good, with kindness and care. Each step builds on Divinity’s foundation. Hope is in each sunrise.
