Inheritance

I often wonder what I can leave of lasting value.  Initially I thought it was something material, a lasting keepsake.  Over time, I have come to realize the question applies to a far wider spectrum of individuals and situations than I initially thought.  Included are the obvious; Carli and Whitney, Cherry, and others in the immediate family network.  Also included is anyone who has touched my life or I theirs.  These relationships represent a legacy which I have come to realize are priceless!  Their gifts to me, in a wide range of ideas, insights, and learning have altered the course of my life in priceless ways.  I find myself involved, mentally, physically, and spiritually, long after the reasons for our initial friendship and relationship have disappeared.

In this context, I have struggled with what I could leave that is a lasting value.  I know money isn’t the answer.  I understand things physical will not always have relevance.  Yet there is one thing that I know I value and I believe they will to; access to the source of my strength and hope.  What if I could give them access to the God of mercy, acceptance, and love?  Would this be of use?  Could this be a ongoing gift of hope that each quietly thirsts for?

I am fortunate to know just such a God.  I received a legacy from someone before me.  Simple put I was given the option of asking “in my name, according to my will, and he'll [God will] most certainly give it to you.  Your joy will be a river overflowing its banks!” (John 16.24)  I have come to realize that I can share this with you as well and I don’t need to wait until I’m gone!  I can freely give today as I have been given.

What you do with this gift is solely up to you.  I know it is an awesome inheritance.  I have come to experience its priceless value.  If ever I can help you tap into the source, fantastic.  Until then, let’s enjoy the ride together.
