Knowledge comes in many different forms. My primary thoughts of knowledge always come through my mind, leveraging whatever intellect is available. As I reflect on my experiences with art, music, photography, nature, and creativity in general, I find there is a different plane of knowledge, different, unique, and separate.
Remember a great painting or sculpture. What did it make you feel? How do you remember the experience? Did any insight, emotional or otherwise, carry with you?
Remember a unique sunset or sunrise. What was the experience at the time? How does it reflect in your memories? Are there memories that, as you close your eyes and see it again, that talk to you in ways nothing else has or does?
Remember a moment in music. It could be a concert, something playing on the radio, or a favorite moment with a LP, cassette, or CD. I can imagine you, like me, singing along, pouring your heart into the words and expression.
The process could go on. It is, in many ways, a reflection of points across your day and mine. We experience, we learn, and we know because of the journey. When it all comes together one expresses one’s knowledge with a depth, intensity, and emotional depth that others feel and know as your truth. It is powerful! The expression goes beyond the simple meaning of the words. When we share the essence within, we know and so do the people around us.
I listen to an old song. I catch some of the steps that came before. I can sense the power within. It is incredible! “God saves and will save me. As fiddles and mandolins strike up the tunes, we'll sing, oh we'll sing, sing, for the rest of our lives in the Sanctuary of God.” (Isaiah 38.20)
Today is an opportunity for you and me to know this song. The Spirit is with us, inviting each into Divinity’s arms. We can find doors to God in today’s moments. The openings are present, here, now. It isn’t head knowledge we need; it is heart.
