All light is not equal. Bright, subtle, predictable, and crazy are just the beginning. As I enjoyed crazy lines and the mixtures of light and shadows, I experienced what the designers of the floor lamp intended. The lamp and the light that flowed were fun, different, and extravagant. If the day ahead was going to be anything like the light from this lamp, it is going to be a great day.
With the sunrise, the lamp went into waiting. In the shadows left with me, I could hear Life whispering reminders to take with me.
Who shows up in the moment matters. In every moment, I get to decide what part or parts of me I will bring. When I am focused and intentional, what follows is the light found in my heart’s values and priorities. If it is a casual response, who knows? Ideally, the best that I have will come through. I would like to echo the old statement; “My hope is that my visit with you is going to be one of Christ’s more extravagant blessings.” (Romans 15.29)
How I interact in the moment will describe the who. I know that I do not always see how I appear, it can be hard to look in the mirror. As I look at the lamp without any power being expressed, I can see the link to what is coming from my heart and mind. When it is powered by kindness and care, the light that follows has an opportunity to bring a wonderful light as a gift to others.
What is revealed in the moment reflects the how and points to the who. It is natural to spin one’s actions into a wonderful tale. I find it challenging to see each act and word as a proof statement of what I hold closest to my heart. When I let myself see the truth, I find an opportunity to increase my awareness and let Divinity’s embrace gift me with the courage to grow.
The day is bright. The moment is now. Time for my A-game.
