Me too!

Stores worldwide are filled with books offering the latest tools and techniques for success.  As one looks through the titles, it is easy to imagine what things might be like if each was applied to the problem at hand!  Sales would rocket to the skies.  Organizational strategies would unfold seamlessly.  Human relationships would magically melt into effortless teamwork.  Even the complexity of operational challenges would dissolve under the disciplines of engineered business process models.  Everyone and everything would fit and work together towards shared goals; success would be the only possible outcome.
If things worked that way, we would have a single business model that we all could adapt and use!  Business variations would be limited to features, functions, and appearances.  We may have our doubts, but when we see something that works, we, myself included, become a “Simon” of our generation.  Simon was the guy that when he “saw that the apostles by merely laying on hands conferred the Spirit, he pulled out his money, excited, and said, 'Sell me your secret!  Show me how you did that!  How much do you want?  Name your price!'” (Acts 8.18, 19)
In this model, everything should fit within the ideal schematic.  Yet, life does not work like this.
First, models are not what they seem.  Relationships do not operate like a script.  Processes are always dependent on human definitions and interactions.  Regardless of what you or I might do, others are free to act without logic, reason, and script.
Second, applying core principles and concepts is an art not a science.  There are too many variables.  It is impossible to reduce the process to a detailed script that we can follow.
Third, wisdom is born from experience and insight.  It is making mistakes, understanding the magnitudes of our failure, and learning in our accountability, that we find ourselves introduced to wisdom.
Life is a process of discovery.  We can walk together.  We can work as a team.  We can nurture and support.  It is in our response to God and others that we find our souls.
