Today is a series of important, unique, and special milestones. Two good friends are getting married, summer has arrived in England with an fresh intensity, Carli faces her first “out of grade school, I am in high-school” weekend, and God waits for anyone to come to his table of special blessing. In addition, my work group faces a monumental choice on what it will become; are we going to win and win big, or be an average group striving but never quite achieving its potential. Time will tell what the outcome really means but for now it is exciting to be a part of the events.
I wish you were here! A perfect cool breeze, bright sun, no clouds to be found, everything is bright green with a smattering of colors from the amazing varieties of flowers, and there is a sense that things might not last long so one should enjoy them. Doing anything outside is a good idea! Doing anything with friends is a great idea. The question is what to do? Your input would be great!
Reflecting on where our journeys have taken us in the past highlights milestones we share. Both of us were on tracks that had no clear destination. It appeared to others that we enjoyed life but that we were searching for more. Something happened to both of us along the way. It would appear that God got in the way! As a result neither of us have ever been the same.
Paul and Isaiah documented God’s warning to us. “Careful! I’ve put a huge stone on the road to Mount Zion, a stone you can’t get around. But the stone is me! If you’re looking for me, you’ll find me on the way, not in the way.” (Romans 9.33)
As I look back, I see God at work. I see people responding and others ignoring the blatant roadblocks God laid out in front of them. God is continuously in the way. God buts in, determined that we should experience unconditional acceptance, love, and mercy.
Milestones – God’s touch points!
