Models come in all shapes and sizes. When I hear the word, my mind automatically goes to Paris runways or business concepts. Both reflect conversations that I enjoy. I have been reminded recently that living examples of near-ideal responses to a situation are models that touch my heart first, then my mind.
In a difficult conversation, one friend reached out to another. In a move only God could script, I saw love, confrontation, compassion, hope, and a willingness to walk together. As I watched the model unfold, I found myself in a living example of what it means when Love supports another. It was powerful. It was simple. It was something I want to learn and always use.
In a stress filled situation, an email appears, distracting my attention to the dark thoughts that can haunt our minds. The timing reflected the actions of one who listens to God and Divinity’s calls to action. It was a powerful reminder of what happens when whispers and details come together.
As I found myself mentally lost, my iPhone chirped. The text message reminded me that one is never totally alone. Others are thinking. Others are praying. Others are lifting you and I up when we need it most.
In each situation, I wanted to remind the individual behind the model that they are demonstrably God’s eyes, ears, hands, and feet. They are making a difference! To others, I want to echo Paul’s words; “I want you to honor and look up to people like that: companions and workers who show us how to do it, giving us something to aspire to.” (1 Corinthians 16.16)
In my experience, models are living stories. They are more their beliefs and values. They are more than the history told in their steps. They are living examples of what it means to live fully and completely. I need these stories. They give reason to learning. I remember; in the process rediscover values and priorities. I also find they a new source of energy and power that leaves courage in our hearts and minds.
