There are many mysteries that can be explained by others that still baffle me. How planes consistently stay in the air, why people feel more secure after someone asks if you have packed your own bags or kept them in control at all times, or why petrol costs three times as much in the UK as in the US. The list goes on.
Cultural differences show themselves daily for anyone living abroad. The way we refer to our clothes, the type of humor we see in advertisements, styles, language (especially English variations), and how we drive all vary country to country. People offer explanations to the differences; meanings to the origins of slang, and guides to fitting in, but in the end many of the variations are mysteries that defy full understanding except to those who grew up in them.
Then there is God. “Is there anyone around who can explain God?” (Romans 11.34) There are those who offer explanations but in the end the only way to solve this mystery is to experience God for your self.
Perhaps the key to understanding God is to recognize and focus in on the differences between Him and all other gods. God offers you and I a gift, all others ask something from us. We try to buy God’s love with works, penitence, and ceremony; He refuses. Other gods ask us to take steps and actions, offering us discovery of something within as a potential reward. God states He knowledge of our failures – past, present, and future – and extends His hand of friendship fully. Other gods require changes before things can get going. I can witness to what God has done for me, but my words only hint at the things you will experience for your self with God.
God is a mystery, however there are facts that give insights.
Everyone qualifies and is fit for His gift offered unconditionally.
Everything God offers to us is good news.
Every experience with God brings one closer to one’s full and real potential.
God is yours, just for saying yes.
