“God looks after us all, makes us robust with life -” Psalm 41.2
Monday began with hope. God appeared to be taking care of problems, resolutions eliminated virtually every one; even the small failures seem to be disappearing before my eyes. My thanks to God for his awesome power verged on overload!
Then they hit. Gremlins showing at every corner. First the house deal fell through, then one of the deal pulled up lame, missing a key deadline. This list rapidly began to grow.
My frustration with God quickly began to catch up. Why was God letting this happen? Is God enjoying my pain? Is everything a setup for failure? Where is God when I really need him?
Even before the questions could form on my lips, God’s answer came pouring back. “I am here, I have always been here. Do you want to lose your freedom of choice? No, well I will never take it away from others either! You should never think I enjoy pain, especially after my son dying on the cross. Never assume failure until the game is over. Never assume I am out of the picture. We will win, that is my promise to you!”
I created Monday’s cloud of despair! I began to look to see life as God might see it. All around me were miracles in action. People smiling because they found hope if life, sun breaking through the storm clouds giving people a chance to run for cover, and acts of grace quietly happening in my sight. It is the small acts of grace that give the most hope. People reflecting the God creator, acts of unselfishness in word and deed blossoming in the quiet moments of the day. God’s grace in action! I wonder if they see it?
I don’t need to tell them, however I do need to live life understanding what this means. God is involved in the smallest details of life. There is no need that he doesn’t understand and wrap grace around.
God gives us gifts for every need. Grace and love.
