Each morning for me presents a time of reflection and new beginnings. Today is a classic; fresh and wet from a dawn down pour, bright with the hope of sun to come, and a sense of quiet peace because of God’s gift of acceptance and hope. Yesterday’s lost opportunities are past and today’s sense of purpose is up front and fresh. I see and experience God’s markers for the future based on His actions of the past. The only chains we have are one we allow the adversary to leave on.
There are several keys I find fresh today. The morning rain gives a sense of cleaning the decks, wiping the junk of yesterday away. The quietness around me speaks to a strong sense of Presence and possibilities. The brightness around me talks to spring, hope, and clean air. God is all around us.
“Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not the worst sins listed in Scripture…none of this fazes us because Jesus loves us.” (Romans 8.35, 37)
The challenges of life are still here. Kids are growing up to discover the more difficult obstacles are still ahead. Work demands continue, apparently they will never diminish! Pressures and problems hit from all corners. I have no idea of how anything will be resolved. I also know God is here.
You and I have clean slates anytime we want them. We ask and we receive. We seek and a response is waiting. The cycle is a new one each time we take the step.
You and I are special children of God. We have unlimited quantities of forgiveness, acceptance, love, mercy, hope, and relationship with God just waiting for our voiced need.
You and I face each day clear of the past and ready and able to write a new future.
