I am a fan of single-origin coffee beans. I look for the profile and tasting notes as a foundation. Admittedly, I have a bias towards Central American beans. Having said this, on any given day I am open to new experiences.
Discovering a roaster’s blend can be a special treat. The tasting notes and way of presenting one roaster’s blend have lingered in my mind long after the cup. There is something magical when creativity begins to gift the coffee drinker with flavour combination nature did not imagine. Life whispers took advantage of the moment to leave me with the following reminders.
Genetics and life working in harmony can lead to more. The range can be endless. I never imagined a farmer’s product from Colombia working in harmony with Ethiopia. Yet the stereo blend spoke to my heart and soul with a unique voice. The whispers took me back, because “That’s not the only time. To Rebecca, also, a promise was made that took priority over genetics. When she became pregnant by our one-of-a-kind ancestor, Isaac.” (Romans 9.10)
Opportunities exist even when things do not go according to one’s assumptions. At times, I catch myself scripting life out. There is my way and of course, it is the best way for the optimal outcome. Experience often takes me to the woodshed, reminding me that I rarely see the whole picture. I forget to account for the freedom of others. I ignore the larger story. In opening myself up to the possibilities, I discover a wonderful harmony of flavours, baker’s chocolate, caramel, and the hind of apple. The result was a wonderful time of reflection and joy. My heart thanked my mind for taking the leap.
Enjoying the moment begins with living there. Today is where life is found. Yesterday is a teacher, tomorrow a design. In letting the music play, I found myself energised and restored, ready for today. Even as I finish a cup, I find myself looking for a second. It is good to be alive. Now is the time for life and living.
