Responding to an impulse can be reckless. I freely admit this conclusion can be true but my caveat is “not always”! Responding to an impulse can be our reaction to God’s tickle. There are moments when Divinity gives us a sense of the way we participate in heart work. It would be fantastic if we didn’t need nudges, but the overwhelming “stuff” of the present often clouds our senses. Divinity’s Spirit fills in those gaps, pushing us to sense the moment of opportunity. It is in the “now” we have the chance to walk, talk, and act like God. While responses vary, from neglect and silence to tear filled thanks, it is in our choice and action where we find true fulfillment of our life mission.
When I look back the moment doesn’t stand out. I was cruising across the web, looking for an update on a website related to the release of a concert DVD. I cannot find a reason I was at the computer instead of getting out in the rare English sun. As I read the update a picture rested on my soul that did not quickly fade. When I recall the specific scene in my mind it is as if I could foresee everything that would unfold in the days to come. I felt the picture and call of the moment and on impulse I acted. The process closed with a note to the individual in my picture, alerting them to a “surprise” would appear in the future.
Before finishing I must caveat the end by saying it doesn’t always happen this way! It is unusual to receive a tear filled email of thanks. I don’t think I’m terribly special. I am just one of God’s kids who listened to Divinity’s whisper and responded. You could have been me. In this case I can think of many times where you already are!
Remember; “We need to be energetically at work for the One who sent me [us] here, working while the sun shines. When night falls, the workday is over.” (John 9.4)
