As today begins, I realise it is different than the one before it. Often, I miss noticing and reflecting on the change that occurs day to day. With the shared events, it is easy to be distracted. It was the look towards the island that I found myself reflecting on the difference a day makes. The actions of yesterday gave birth to awareness, new understandings, and opportunities to grow. It is in these moments that I know anything and everything is possible.
In consideration of the awareness of the possible, the lessons for my day ahead include the following.
Fear, uncertainties, and doubts can and do change in a moment. Yesterday’s fog has given way to clear skies today. What I could not see is now visible and within reach. The awareness of stumbling and missteps is still with me, now without any excuses or responsibilities outside of myself. I still have FUDs. I also have the experiential knowledge that reminds me that my freedom is more powerful than anything they represent.
I am responsible for my freedom and what follows. There is a connection that I would be foolish to ignore. Old advice remains relevant; “If you’re irresponsible to the state, then you’re irresponsible with God, and God will hold you responsible.” (Romans 13.2) I often think of this as a burden. As I sit with hope, I see my freedom as a priceless gift. As I wrap this in acceptance and community, I find myself looking forward with courage, strength, and commitment.
The hope, courage, and sense of what could be find their life with action. It is in responding to the moment that is now that I express my views of what today can be. It is in the present that I act out my beliefs, values, and priorities. It is in relationships that my heart is revealed. Everything is possible as I use my freedom to respond to the call to live life to the fullest.
Today is my moment in time to live, express my heart, and take steps forward.
