“Take a good look at God’s wonders – they’ll take your breath away.” Psalm 66.5
Summer and London are traditionally contradictions that never come together in the same sentence. People know the months of June, July, and August for their cool foggy and rainy offset with a brief glimpse or two of the sun. Life long residents are the worst! The first warm day brings a warning, enjoy, this may be our one-day of summer! The national papers join the frenzy by highlighting businesses that give employees a day off when the first major day of sun and warmth come.
Is this the true London? The answer will depend on your openness to experience and facts.
God and the words wonder, beauty, awesome, awe, wow, incredible, and amazing on not often together except in religious cliches. There are wonderful exceptions to this statement. There are people who express with their whole being how God is wonderful – awesome – incredible – amazing while inspiring awe with awesome power and beauty that leaves one with a wow! Some people show their belief and experience through being creative and musical, others who are quiet and reserve show their thoughts through their consistent actions. As I watch people who see God this way I find a common trait, a wonderful intensity, passion, and grace always coming though their eyes. Their eyes express the result of God’s touch.
Do we find the real answer in how the world paints the various pictures of God? The Hindu god carries both good and bad. The Buddhist god is a reflection of a realized self. Christian’s often describe their god as the result in living a life of discipline and obedience driven by solid theology.
Which is the true God? How can we look at God’s wonders without blinders, preconceptions, and bias?
First, stop trying to do the work; give up!
Second, ask God for help; acknowledge who you are and what you do.
Third, open one’s self up for the most amazing ride in the world!
Take a chance with God, he will astound you!
