“Let them [us] praise his name in dance; strike up the band and made great music!” Psalm 149.3
London is gearing up for a big party. Invitations are all out, roads are closed, firework barges are in place, and the “river of fire” just about ready for the big event! The range of parties is truly amazing! Raucous discos, formal cruises up the Thames, traditional big bands, and jazz nights are only the beginning. Everyone has a plan ready for action. Even the trains shut down for a few hours to celebrate!
God is looking to party with us and I wonder if I am ready? Do I see myself striking up the band, making great music, and dancing the time away? Is this what God is all about?
I have no idea if I am ready. I am discovering that it does not matter if I am ready or not! God wants to party and he will do all the work. It is as if he is saying, “No worries mate, I will take care of everything. Get out and dance!”
God is all about good news, celebrations, and pushing on to victory. Life is going to be tough, God knows that and promises to take care of the problem. Life is going to be painful; God understands and will share the tough times with us so he can give us a future with no pain. God wants to make music with us, to dance the moments away so that others will see how grace works in life. We have an incredible opportunity to be his partner. Being ready will not help because we do not know the dance steps. Jumping in and letting God lead is what it is all about, so there is no reason to wait!
The party agenda is simple and faultless. God is in love with us and wants to share the best that He has. God loves celebrations, the louder more intense and personal the better!
When we rest, God is there. When we party, God is there.
