“Let the party last all night!” Psalm 5.11
Before you even begin to start let me the facts on the table!
I stayed home all night. Yes, my sleep didn’t start until early morning. I slept too much in the afternoon, watched a movie and read a book, two of them actually. Yes I also know I am rambling and sounding defensive. You see He invited me to a party, two of them actually.
David’s psalm is the reaction after people run for cover by running to God. The best party I know if when people who run to God get together and celebrate. God sends party invitations out each week under some funny names. People often just call the invitations church.
I know your church experience and the word “party” are not together.
Currently I go to two parties each week. One on Saturday, because that is the formal invitation where God gives out special presents. The second on Sunday, because the people coming together know the same God, really understand His invitation to party, and God promised to be there even if there were only two or three of us.
The Sunday party will never have the potential as Saturday but today it makes sense to do both.
To me all parties are fun when you come totally open to having a wild and unusual time, well crazy too. Think about some of the greatest New Year’s or birthday parties! Think about the quiet times where friends get together to celebrate. There are common things about how one approaches them. No agendas or soap boxes to push onto friends, just being and enjoying whatever happens! Letting it hang out!
Worship can be a party, should be a party, where people just let it hang out. Be totally open. Be a bit crazy. If you can not be open with God who can or should you be?
On Sunday, I am learning how to party and I want the party to last all night! Would you like to come join me? It’s party time!
