My client’s expectations are very high. The situation is filled with unknowns and uncertainties. I live in the middle of two extremes. On one edge is an open opportunities. On the other extreme, is some I have labeled chaos. There is something there, but I do not know what it is exactly. My role is lies in taking chaos to opportunity.
As I come to grips with the paradox, I find that I am holding a threat with lots of potential. I can see the destination. While there are variations, all seem positive! It is a destination worthy of a journey. The challenge is the gap. Even as I begin to think about it, my mind slips from hope to the blues. There are unending unknowns. There are obstacles and roadblocks. The uncertainty is overwhelming.
As I take my first few steps, I can see that there will be mantras that I need to carry with me. I will need to…
Have a vision. Visionless journeys rarely stay true to their destination.
Hold Hope’s hand. People need encouragement and support to reach great destinations.
Endure. This is a road requiring patience. If I persevere, getting to the destination is possible.
Walk with passion and intensity. Others need to feel my conviction.
Believe. Without believe, everything else is hollow.
Above, all, I will need to celebrate! With each step, milestone, and intense moment, I need to party at some level! There may be setbacks, any result is an opportunity to do something more to make a difference. I look at Paul’s approach to a farewell. Some would get depressed. He took the other road. His reflection noted the difference; “When our time was up, they escorted us out of the city to the docks. Everyone came along—men, women, children. They made a farewell party of the occasion!” (Acts 21.5)
Paraphrasing the cliché, I know some see the present as a pig’s ear (ugly, without a future). I see a potential purse – couture of course! I get to be a tailor. It is an amazing opportunity.
