Power

From a sterile, distant perspective power can be hard to see.  It is easy to spot the bullies – moving great objects with apparent strength.  Yet this isn’t the real power.  The force of an earthquake moves the ground in inches yet it topples buildings with ease.  A tsunami initially moves up and down in small units, yet the devastation it brings is beyond imagination!  Even the wind moves here and there, unseen except for those touched by its power and force.  Even more powerful than these is the change which comes from apparently simple ideas conveyed with passion and integrity.
 
Last night I experienced three sets of music conveyed by artists infused with truth.  I found myself reflecting on what could be, how you and I could play a integral role, and discovering hope amid life’s laments.  There is so much within our grasp!  Hope fills life in more ways than we care to acknowledge.  Everything can be – if we choose.
 
The reason for my optimism is rests within the power of true truth ideals.  Compassion is stronger than self promotion.  Mercy is more powerful than judgment.  Acceptance will always stand taller than bigotry.  When we come face to face with true truth our hearts are changed from the inside out.  The force is beyond our control.  It is as if we revel in the experience, turn, look inside, and discover the person that was is now different is ways better, kinder, and filled with gentleness. 
 
Last night I found myself in the presence of people who have shared steps with the Spirit.  My experience tells me that the “Fear-of-God will be all his[/her] joy and delight.  He[/She] won't judge by appearances, won't decide on the basis of hearsay.  He'll/[She’ll] judge the needy by what is right, render decisions on earth's poor with justice. His[/Her] words will bring everyone to awed attention.  A mere breath from his[/her] lips will topple the wicked.” (Isaiah 11.3, 4)
 
Things didn’t end with last night.  With this mornings dawn comes a blanket of hope for the community; you and me.
