There are moments in time when one must strike fast! You get on a roll in sports; now is not the time to wimp out! A romantic moment crystallizes; this is not the time to discuss some nagging question on what your best friend purchased a few days ago. There are, at times, issues and questions that must be dealt with immediately. The risk to the future, the overwhelming pain of the moment dictates a quick response. I do believe that there are times when we can wait to dwell on the pain of a previous battle. I worry more about the events requiring celebration, now! Passionate embraces that will not wait!
The old saying applies to your life and mine. “Make hay while the sun shines – that’s smart; go fishing during harvest – that’s stupid.” (Proverbs 10.5) The question that always sits with me revolves around where I rest. Am I caught in the web of my past? Are the failures and wrongs of yesterday shaping my response to today? Are the waves of the future overwhelming my decision of the moment? I can learn from the past and trust God for the future. With a touch of callousness, what other possible relevance does either gaze bring?
Today is a fresh day with incredible opportunities. Sure, most of mine seem rather mundane. However, how I respond to them will measure how much of life I am ready to experience. I am tired of living in slow speed! I want everything life has to offer! I want to celebrate victory when everyone has written me off. I know that you and I can have far more than we can ever imagine! The answer lies is my readiness to accept God’s gift.
Being ready for God is one of the simpler things one can do, no matter how complex many people try to make it. In truth you are already ready, just as you are. When you turn, as I did this morning, you will find God holding the door wide open; ready to give you real living!
