“Real help comes from God, Your blessing clothes your people!” Psalm 3.8
Real results come from the right focus, the right attention, and the right source of power. This statement could come from any coach, manager, motivator, or parent. This theme pulsated through the aching ear and head yesterday.
What is the right focus? What is the best place to put my attention? Where can I tap the right source of power?
Having a big dose of Type-A personality with a real sense of the goal and what it takes to get across I’ve always known the right focus. Ball through the post and in the net, anything less is a failure. I know now that this is the wrong focus. This focus will brings a sense of fulfillment which never seems to last.
I have always placed my attention on the strategic with a view to the immediate. Fancy words that suggest I can understand the long-term impact of moment to moment decisions. Actually, from the world’s perspective, I am very good at it. However, for real results, is this the right place to put one’s attention?
The world is so consistent in playing out the theme that good guys can finish first though it will be a challenge with many hurdles to be crossed. Is being good enough? Does doing the right thing tap into the “force” or “power” that will bring success?
The right focus, attention, and source of power are the same question painted with different colors.
What if our only focus is God? What if our only attention is on our relationship with God? What is we strive to let God be the single source of power in our actions? We just work to stay out of the way.
This always sounds good, then comes the reality of each day.
How does one know who God is anyway? How does one hear God’s voice? What is a relationship with God really?
Answer: by walking with him, by listening to his voice in words, life, everywhere. Living is state of being.
