When ideas connect it is magic. You can see eyes light up in the individuals where the ideas have found a home. You can feel tangible energy emerge. Everything around you shifts. It is as if you know what you cannot know. For me, the awareness is a tangible reminder that Hope is present.
When something like this works, I find myself trying to understand the how and why. I want to repeat the process! If there is a pattern, I would like to embrace it with all that I am. As I reflect, I do see a conditional pattern that continues to emerge.
Ideas connect when at least one is looking to learn. Learning and the openness to it will give birth to dialogue. Dialogue is the foundation for connecting new ideas.
Communities are held together by shared ideas. In order for a community to continue, individuals must be open to the ideas of the other. Yet it takes more that just openness. Communities rest on something that is mutually known, understood, and lived. In a spiritual context, this can be said another way. “Spirit can be known only by spirit—God’s Spirit and our spirits in open communion.” (1 Corinthians 2.15)
For communities to grow, new ideas must be recognized and adapted into the core. Growing communities are never stagnant. They reach out, seeing to extend their thoughts and ideals. They work on putting these into action, letting the collective experience reinforce the ideals.
Life often reminds me that pushing new ideas does not mean that they will be successful. Selling, presenting, and marketing can help the process however they are never the key. The key lies in the openness of another to hear. There must be a willingness or recognition that a new idea is a good idea in order for things to begin.
Today is about ideas and opportunities. It is a process that has the potential for hope. My prayer is that I am as open to others as I hope they will be to me. The magic can start anywhere.
