Introducing someone you know to another is always interesting. When I am in the middle, I wonder about what I can say. What is the common reference point? Is there something that could be helpful or of interest to the future by sharing a reference point? If a friend is introducing me, I wonder what insights will come, what will they say about me. Meeting someone for the first time causes me to wonder; will this introduction change my life?
I have a friend I would enjoy introducing to you. I think you would enjoy his conversation, experience the spark of his enthusiasm, and move towards God because of meeting him. As someone in the middle, I would introduce him as another traveler on the road towards God. His walk would interest you with its authenticity, twists and turns.
I know what I would say about you! Here is “my good friend in the family of God.” (Romans 16.8) He reintroduced me to God though he did not know that he was at the time. He continues to lead and teach me about unconditional acceptance and love in ways that affect the course of my life. A bit of an eccentric with his mint G.I. Joe collection, however his love of open and honest artistic expression reflects far more of God than he will ever realize.
Do you remember the first time you introduced me to someone else? I do. By that time I had know you casually for eighteen months or so. We saw each other a few times a week while you earned enough money to cover the bills. You were the one person I was totally open with because you did not touch any other part of my “real world”. I thought I was escaping from God. I can be so wrong!
“This is Bill, my spiritual advisor.”
God called me back through you. If you were here . . . “Danny, meet John – he travels with me in search of God, giving me God's instruction when I need it most.”
