Each day is a choice, actually a whole series of choices. We make hundreds, if not thousands, of choices that flow through the day from our first waking moments to our last. At times, our decisions of the past come to realization in the course of the present, but always we come to the present reality of what step to take next. To others we defend our actions as being good, bad, great, poor, difficult, or easy. Within our own reflection, we often wonder, never quite knowing or trusting that we have taken the right path.
Today I realize a choice to do something about a problem I wrestled with for years. At some point, the decision comes down to accepting the reality, understanding the options, and placing my trust in someone else to fix the problem within. I cannot do it on my own. I do not have the skill, ability, or knowledge to do the job. While the choice may appear clear, my resolution waivers on the day of action.
Today I see another problem that I continue to wrestle with in my heart and mind. I see the reality of my weakness, the struggle to know my purpose; the wonder at what life is all about. I struggle to accept that I cannot do anything about the issues on my own. I do not have the skill, ability, knowledge, or qualifications to do the job. While the problem may appear clear, my resolution about the solution waivers on each day of action.
Each day, each choice of every moment boils down to two simple questions. Do I have faith in God to solve the problem? Am I resolute in my pursuit of God’s action? “Make no mistake: In the end you get what’s coming to you – Real Life for those who work on God’s side, but to those who insist on getting their own way and taking the path of least resistance, Fire!” (Romans 2.7,8)
I walk into today trusting God. My resolution is firm, steady, because God is with and for us.
