I love to save money. I also like to spend it; but it is saving that makes everything doing things possible. I know that Cherry would question this statement. She can produce evidence of my odd purchases made without discussion or, in her opinion, any apparent thought. Cherry will also contest my defense that I use everything. She will suggest that touching something once a year does not constitute use; besides, why does anyone need six pairs of sneakers?
The trouble with this discussion is that we always lose sight of the original point! I love to save! I like mutual funds, holding stock, and having a healthy cash reserve. I hate throwing money away, paying someone too much for a purchase, or paying commission on anything. Every bit of this could add to the savings for a rainy day and the college fees I can see just over the horizon.
The good news is that despite my spending patterns, Cherry's budget mindset and my savings have kept us from bankruptcy! “Miracles never ceasing” is the echo I hear in my mind! I do believe that God is that concerned with my savings balance. There is something far more important that I keep ignoring.
Do you have any idea of the value God places on your life? The answer is that He believes you are beyond priceless! He gave up the life of the Divine to create the possibility of restoring your life and mine to their full potential. We are the sum total of His savings account! We are everything to Him.
Yet, I keep spending God's investment on foolish adventures. I wander away, squandering the very thing that Jesus gave up all to save. God knows this, however he made provision just in case. Always remember, “you're blessed when you meet Lady Wisdom, when you make friends with Madame Insight. She's worth far more than money in the bank; her friendship is better than a big salary.” (Proverbs 3.13,14)
Today I will put my life in His account with Wisdom and Insight as guides.
