The music and setting were incredible. Wonderful jazz sung and played in a peace filled tropical setting. The emotions being conveyed through the music touched everyone in the room. It was impossible to hide from it! Great lyrics always help, but it is the human equation that makes the difference.
Even days and weeks later I find myself still going back to the moment(s). Life keeps reminding me that there was more to the moment than just the moment. I was left changed by the experience. I am in a different place. There is more hope and energy around me. People look different. Everything has changed for the better.
I have searched for a good way to describe what occurred and the only metaphor that comes to mind is a Psalm; “The good get planted on good land and put down healthy roots.” (Psalm 37.29)
Beautiful things in life touch us in ways seen and understood. They also touch us in ways we never imagined. Recent experiences remind me that they also transport us to a different place. We are planted in a space where anything is possible. We can retreat to where we were or advance into the unknown. The experience of being in the presence of beauty and wonder planted seeds of truth and transformation deeply within us. What happens needs is what we do with these gems. They have a bit of soil that lets them grow within us but they need our heart and engagement to grow and live.
In my mind’s eye I can see gems that are on the cusp of coming alive. They have lived and grown. The stage is right for them to blossom into something even more beautiful. It is wonderfully hope filling to be able to witness this in others. I realize the same potential exists within me. I too can be more than I am. Each past experience of beauty is a seed planted, waiting for its time. God invested, hopeful for more. You and I have an opportunity within to make a difference outside.
