“I’m thanking you, God, from a full heart” Psalm 9.1
My reminder lesson during the past 24 hours is that the small things in life are the true big events.
Today’s examples include the following –
Eating a meal together in the morning. Listening to the sleepy hello of love from your child. Feeling the arms of acceptance wrap tighter and tighter around your neck. Being quizzed on authors for a 7th grade test and failing. Taking the three special girls in your life to lunch
Could one experience more important events in life?
Being away from the family 50% of the time brings many things into focus. The importance of spending time, the relevance of conversation, of saying good-morning and goodnight all come into sight. Sitting together creates a memory chip saved for a day when everything else seems bleak.
The rain came, winds blew, snow melt, and lightening flashed. We didn’t do much, Cherry, Carli, Whitney and I. Yet we are family. Little things are really the big blocks of glue holding life together.
God says you and I are part of His family. God’s “little things” in life give us the strongest evidence of this truth. I see the special evidence all around me –
The good things of life come to all, people who are good along with those not so good. Family networks give people the opportunity to share grace with others. Simple experiences between people create bonds that cannot be broken.
A wow of life came as I watched Whitney and Carli explore small rivers flowing through the snow in the back yard. An exclamation mark left an impression as Whitney explained how she missed me a lot during the past few weeks. I am full yet different because of today.
God is so good and I want to know Him more. I want to share what I know of Him with others so they will know this sense of fullness. God is willing to give so much.
The invitation is sitting on the table. Come eat, it’s very good!
