Business if full of smoke and mirrors. Frequently the rationalization follows the lines that one is only responding to expectations that are beyond reason and that ultimately everyone knows these are “best case” answers. Certain industries and personnel have developed reputations, good and bad, based on nothings but smoke; knowing that at some point the party will end.
The problem is that one cannot build a relationship on vapor. It just does not work! There is a difference between stretch goals, aggressive targets, and thinly veiled deception. Yet for most the ends still justify whatever means work for the moment at hand.
I experienced a group of kids over the weekend that is different. Even when they stretch the facts the smile in their eyes, joy in the voice, and bouncy attitude gives you hope in the future. They are out looking to experience the fullness of life; in every activity. It does not matter if it is walking the dog, watching a football game on TV, or playing with a digital camera. Every moment is an opportunity to build on what is real, present, and experiential.
The contrast plays out at all ages. “Unscrupulous people fake it a lot; honest people are sure of their steps.” (Proverbs 21.29) It is as if you can see and feel it when you are in their presence! Lives built on fluff feel thin, weak, and as if they will disappear at any moment. The smile of a child is genuine and carries with you for days, even years to come.
You and I have the opportunity to live life like kids. There is nothing to stop us but our self! We can build on what is around us, reaching our and nurturing the lives that are within our reach. We can enjoy life completely and to the full. We can live in the present and not fret about the past or the future. We can create a life now; real, tangible, and a constant foundation.
